ENTREPRENEURSHIP & INNOVATION

Nurturing a dynamic business community
by connecting founders and
the Omaha startup ecosystem.

Want to Grow Your Idea?
Welcome to Fertile Ground.

Omaha startups have a long history of looking forward; understanding the past to better guide the future. The next big thing happens here, in a Midwestern mecca of technology. Here, at the conflux of opportunity and creativity, we don’t need a valley. We have a Silicon Prairie all our own.

As our entrepreneurial ecosystem evolves, breakout success stories emerge, and a new crop of entrepreneurs feels emboldened to launch their ventures here – a place that values collaboration, innovation and acceleration.

Helping Startups Find First Customers

Our First Customer Network matches established businesses with relevant startups working on solutions for real-world problems. By joining the network as a startup, we’ll help to identify and connect you with first customers that can validate your ideas, determine market viability or be your first source of revenue.

Connecting Founders to Fellow Founders

Throughout the year, we host a variety of events that bring local founders together. We aim to connect the startup community and create opportunities to share ideas, inspire one another and support the success of emerging businesses.

I will never forget our first customer. In the B2B space, it’s hard to get a foot in door when you’re new. Businesses prefer partnering with proven solutions, and you can’t be a proven solution until a business partners with you. Our first customer has been a catalyst in a number of ways. In particular, it gave us the credibility that we needed for other businesses to give Maxwell a try.

How it All Started.

The Startup Collaborative

Like many startup ecosystems, The Startup Collaborative began as an accelerator and incubator in the AIM Exchange building in downtown Omaha. Several years ago, the Startup Collaborative was acquired by the Greater Omaha Chamber and moved to its new home on the ConAgra campus. As the program expanded, the focus of the collaborative shifted. Tapping into Chamber resources, the program offered startups work space and a proven framework for moving from idea to funding and first customers. This is how the First Customer Network began and where our entrepreneurship focus remains today.
